Gestão integrada de pequenas propriedades rurais na região de Ji-Paraná (RO): Uma experiência extensionista realizada por futuros médicos veterinários
Abstract
The purpose of this experience report is to present an outreach initiative developed in the region of Ji-Paraná (RO), aimed at strengthening family farming with a focus on beef cattle production. The initiative sought to promote dialogue between technical and empirical knowledge on integrated farm management, contributing to the development and improvement of productive practices among small-scale farmers.
The action was structured into three main stages: (1) a diagnostic survey of the needs and challenges faced by local producers; (2) systematization and analysis of the collected information; and (3) an informational lecture held at the Itapirema Family Farming School (EFA), addressing the topic of integrated management of rural properties, with an emphasis on beef cattle farming and confinement systems. The activities carried out enabled not only the practical application of theoretical knowledge but also the strengthening of ties between the university and the community, fostering dialogue between different forms of knowledge and encouraging the adoption of more efficient management practices in the field. It is concluded that actions of this nature have the potential to generate lasting positive impacts, both in the academic training of students and in the enhancement and appreciation of the productive activities of farming families in the region.
