Ecomercado: Reciclagem que alimenta
Abstract
The Ecomercado: Recycling that Feeds project aimed to promote sustainability and solidarity by allowing recyclable materials to be exchanged for basic food baskets. The initiative sought to encourage responsible environmental practices and offer support to socially vulnerable families in the Copas Verde neighborhood of Ji-Paraná (RO). The project, developed as a university extension activity of Afya's Agronomy course, included awareness campaigns, collection of recyclable materials, and collaboration with local cooperatives. The results showed greater community involvement, strengthening of recycling cooperatives, and awareness of the importance of proper waste disposal. The action proved effective in promoting integration between the university and the community, strengthening environmental education, and serving as an example for future sustainable and social initiatives.
