Abstract

This paper presents an experience report developed by Nursing students during practical activities carried out at the Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS II) Raio de Luz, located in the municipality of Ji-Paraná, Rondônia, Brazil. The experience took place during five meetings under academic supervision, aiming to report and reflect on the importance of qualified listening and humanization in the care of users with mental disorders. The methodology adopted was qualitative and descriptive, based on participant observation. The activities included monitoring the reception process conducted by the nursing team and psychiatric consultations. It was found that reception is an essential stage in the therapeutic process, characterized by empathy, active listening, and comprehensive attention to users. The multidisciplinary collaboration among nursing, psychiatry, psychology, and social work professionals proved to be decisive in promoting humanized and effective care. Qualified listening was identified as a key practice for strengthening therapeutic bonds, improving treatment adherence, and reducing the stigma associated with mental disorders. It is concluded that this experience provided significant learning about the importance of humanization and integrality in mental health care.
