Biotecnologias Reprodutivas aplicadas a animais de companhia

Abstract

With technological development, in recent decades many methods have emerged to assist in reproduction, in order to improve the reproduction of animals with high zootechnical value. In this way, biotechniques of reproduction stand out, such as artificial insemination (AI), embryo transfers (ET), among others, which play an important role in preserving biodiversity, genetic improvement of species and breeds, in addition to enabling new crossings, as well as preventing and identifying different pathologies. The present study aims to highlight the use of reproductive biotechnologies in companion animals, presenting everything from the characteristics of the females' estrous cycle, methods involved in each biotechnique, protocols and pregnancy diagnosis, so that these technologies applied to reproduction can contribute to economic and health benefits for creation, in addition to environmental sustainability.
