Abstract

The following report aims to describe the experiences of the law students during their visit to the Municipal Center for Specialized Educational Care for Autism in Ji-Paraná/RO. During the activity, the students had the opportunity to talk to atypical mothers, who shared the challenges they face on a daily basis, including the physical and emotional exhaustion caused by caring for their children, as well as the frustration caused by the lack of access to specialized services and the bureaucracy involved in the process of guaranteeing rights.

The main objective of the visit was to collect information and testimonies by means of a questionnaire, applied during the interaction with the families and professionals at the Center. The data obtained will be forwarded to the institution's legal department, with the aim of contributing to possible legal actions or public policies aimed at improving care and guaranteeing the rights of autistic children and their families.
In addition, the students were able to observe the structure of the place, getting to know the teaching methodologies and therapies offered, such as speech therapy, psychology and occupational therapy. The experience gave them a greater understanding of the importance of social inclusion and multidisciplinary support for children's development. The visit also reinforced the role of law in defending efficient public policies, highlighting the need for greater investment in specialized services.
